Taking that idea a step further, Carmel Sullivan of Santa Monica, CA, founded CoAbode, a Web site that matches single mothers who want to share a house or apartment. The innovative venture, is also something of a social statement: "Single parents want their own version of the extended family," says Sullivan. "We're saying, 'There are so many of us and we're not second-class citizens. We're going to band together.'"
CoAbode may illustrate the rich resources now made possible by the Internet.
